How will you dress for my event?
We will try our best to dress appropriately for each event. Our Standard dress is Socko DJ's apparel, For semi-formals, Proms, Weddings and formals, full suits are available. Please contact us if you have a special requirement.
Do you take song requests?
Definitely! We play the music that you and your guests want to hear, most of the time requests design the show.
How are you better than a band?
We do not take breaks between sets, we can play a much wider variety of music, all music played sounds exactly like it does on the radio, we cost half as much and bring a larger sound and light show, and if a DJ gets sick we don't have to cancel, we can find you a similar replacement.
Who will control the volume of the sound system?
All of our sound systems are capable of producing extremely high sound pressure levels. To ensure everyone's health and good hearing, we maintain ultimate control of our sound systems volume. We will do our best to cater to your request. We don't want to hurt anyone's hearing or offend anyone. Simply tell us if we're getting carried away with the volume and we will turn it down. We try to set up our equipment so we get a good sound and rich bass on the dance floor and still have it fairly quiet for conversations to take place.
Do you arrive early to set up and get things organized before the event starts?
YES! We always arrive at least one hour early for all events to make sure everything is ready to go on time. Depending on the event and system used we may be there up to 5 hours early! Also getting to the event early allows us to coordinate events with photographers, videographers, caterers, etc. This will help us make sure everything runs smoothly.
Do you require a signed contract?
Yes. A contract is not only good for us, but for you too. It guarantees to you, that we will be at your event ready to perform.
Do you require a deposit, if so how much?
Yes. We require a non-refundable deposit of at least 25% on all events. The retainer is due upon contract signing to hold your event date.
Is my deposit refundable?
No. Your retainer is non-refundable to protect us from lost bookings due to us scheduling your event.
When is the balance due?
The balance is due immediately at the beginning of the event. NO EXCEPTIONS!
What is your overtime fee? (playing late)
It depends on the type of event and our original quoted price. Our usual fees are between $40.00 and $100.00 an hour.
Do you use professional equipment?
Yes! We only use professional, name brand sound and lighting equipment. Please click the equipment link above for detailed information.
How many outlets do you need, what is your power requirements?
We require 4 outlets with at least 40 amps of available power and access to the breaker panel, for large shows we tab directly into the breaker panel due to reactive loads of over 100 amps.
What if I do not want any lighting used?
No problem, if you do not want lighting just tell us, we will packed up!
Will you act as our Master of Ceremonies?
We often refer to our Disc Jockeys as your party host or MC. He is able to use his professional experience to make announcements and act as a Master of Ceremonies to coordinate events.
How do you know what kind of music to play at my event?
When we sign the initial contract, you will be asked what the theme of the event is and the age groups of the guest attending.
I would like to script the music for the night, song by song, for the entire event. Is that OK?
No - for several reasons. We play our music entirely by computer, and could script the event down to the second for weeks in advance, yet we rarely create a list longer than 3 or 4 songs. Why? Because weddings/dance parties etc. change constantly. The best skill in a DJ's arsenal is his ability to read and react to the crowd. We often will make changes in the song list with as little as 5 seconds before the next song starts because of many different reasons such as - the caterers need a few more minutes to pour champagne, the bride ripped her dress and needs to fix it, etc. We are happy to take your list of the "songs you love" and work them in when appropriate, but if you want someone to play a list, we are probably not the best DJ for you.
Can we request songs or types of music that we do not want played?
We invite Clients to request song selections to be played/not played at their event by filling out the music request sheet.
Is your music licensed and censored?
All of our music is censored to FCC standards as not to offend anyone. Our music is obtained from Promo Only. They are a company that provides music for  industry professionals. So to sum it up,  if you heard it on the radio you will hear the same version from us. Please understand we do not edit music ourselves and some people may still find the music offensive, especially from newer artists.
Does the DJ expect tipping/gratuity?
While it is common to tip the entertainment industry, it is not mandatory. However, if your DJ surpasses your expectations and you wish to tip, a 5-10% tip would be considered extremely generous and taken as a great compliment.
Should we feed the DJ staff?
Yes, it is greatly appreciated. Our staff often puts in an 8 hour or more day when travel time, setup, and teardown time is included. Please let us know if you will be feeding the DJ staff so that we know if  we need to stop and pick something up on the way to your event.
Do you provide karaoke services?
No, unfortunately we do not have Karaoke service. When we started the business we made a conscious decision not to enter this market because it can get sticky doing Karaoke at weddings and weddings are our major focal point for doing business.
